October 14, 2022
Hope you are having a nice semester so far and that you are enjoying the cooler weather as we shift into Fall! There have been some important and exciting updates to the certification process that we want to be sure everyone is aware of. In addition, see below for some recurring reminders!
Certification Update
WSU-CASE has officially moved into the card check period! Because we are in this stage, we are no longer allowed to submit more cards to contribute to our majority. This means that the state labor board (PERC) has determined we have a strong majority of cards and they will now check the signatures on cards to determine they are valid. PERC has asked WSU Labor Relations to provide them with examples of all ASE signatures and have given them the deadline of October 24th. After receiving the signatures, PERC will then start the card check and, if we pass, we will be certified!. The card check should occur quickly once WSU Labor Relations provides signatures to PERC, but there is a possibility that delays may occur if WSU does not abide by PERC’s deadline. Please stay tuned for important updates and plans for direct action over the next few weeks as we get closer to the October 24th deadline!
Next Monthly Meeting
Our next monthly meeting will take place Wednesday, October 19th at 6:00pm in-person AND over Zoom. If you are able to attend in-person, the meeting will be in SPARK 333. During the meeting, we will talk about the certification process and spend time reaching out to colleagues and friends about CASE’s letter to administration calling for no further delays to the certification process.
If you will be able to make it to the meeting either in-person or over Zoom, please register at this link. See you there!
What do you want to bargain for? Fill out the survey!
Higher wages? Better health Insurance? Broader fee waivers? Protections for International Students? More support for child and dependent care? All of the above? Make your voice heard by filling this survey out today! The process takes about 15 minutes and all responses will remain confidential. This is a critical part of preparations for bargaining so please be sure to give your input and share with your colleagues.
If you’d like to discuss any of this information further don’t hesitate to reach out to us at contact@wsucase.org.
