October 23, 2023
There’s just one week until our Strike Authorization Vote (SAV) opens! The voting period will be from October 30th to November 6th! With this action, we are signaling to WSU Administrators that we will not settle for a contract that does not reflect our value and dignity as workers. We are ready for a fair contract, and we need it now! For more information on the SAV, you can check out our SAV announcement email.
We know that international ASEs have a lot of pressing questions about participation in the SAV and a possible strike & protection from retaliation while doing so. To address these questions, WSU-CASE will be hosting an International SAV Town Hall tomorrow, on Tuesday October 24th at 6pm via zoom. The Town Hall will include a panel with international ASEs from WSU, and international scholars from other union campaigns in Washington and beyond who have recent experience from being on strike. Please RSVP via this link to learn more about your rights as an international ASE or how you can support the needs of international colleagues!
A fair contract with proper protections is sorely needed for international ASEs. It is part of the reason why Chia-Hui Chen, a Research Assistant and International Scholar on the Spokane campus from the department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, is voting YES on Day 1:
A successful SAV requires mass participation – let’s work together to make sure that we have a strong supermajority voting YES! Here are some ways you can help:
- Come to a training to learn how to help get out the vote & ask more questions about how a strike or SAV will work! RSVP for a session here!
- Come to the international ASE SAV/Strike Town hall & help ensure that yours & your colleagues concerns are addressed. RSVP here!
- Text three ASE friends/colleagues about the SAV & get them to sign up for trainings
- Read the Strike FAQ and reply to this email if you have questions
