Our strike begins Wednesday, and momentum is building! These last ten months of bargaining for our first contract have shown the strength, resilience and above all solidarity of ASEs here at WSU. Our fight is about winning the living wages, fair healthcare, and strong protections and benefits that we deserve, but it is also about more: our fight is about dignity.

Sign up for picket shifts now!

Hundreds of ASEs have already signed up for their picket shifts—have you? Every single ASE who signs up for a picket shift puts more pressure on WSU admin to come to the bargaining table with a fair deal. Take five minutes to:

  1. Sign up for your picket shifts.
  2. Get two of your coworkers to sign up for their picket shifts.

Is your supervisor asking you about striking?

ASEs across the university have been outraged by WSU’s attempt to intimidate us by sending out misleading emails about reporting strike participation. It is our position that no ASE is obligated to tell their supervisor whether they plan to participate in the strike. If you are being asked, you can let your supervisor know that our union believes this kind of questioning is illegal, and has let WSU know this. You can also ask your supervisor to cite any law that they believe empowers them to ask you about your strike plans. As always, reach out if you need help with these conversations to contact@wsucase.org.

Picket line cold preparations are underway

Weather won’t hold us back from winning what we deserve! We’ll have shelters, heaters, hand warmers and other supplies to keep us warm on the picket lines—see you out there! Also, check out this Cold Weather Strike Toolkit that some ASEs have put together.

Strike Pay

Every ASE who does twenty hours of picketing a week (or other strike duties for those who cannot be on the picket line) will be eligible for strike pay of $500 per week if management decides not to pay us while we are on strike. To make sure you can get your strike pay, sign up for your shifts and show up on day one to register for strike assistance and enroll for direct deposit. Keep an eye out for an email tomorrow with more details on what to bring to the picket line to enroll.
